People today consume more best meat in a single day than they did 50 years ago. This is not necessarily the case with children though, although it may be. While there is no doubt that eating red meat is probably not the best thing for your body, it is possible to enjoy it without the risks. One of the great things about red meat is that it is very tasty. Think about the variations of flavours, such as bacon, steak, poultry, pork and bison.
All of these have different strengths and are likely to appeal to different people. This versatility has given rise to many products that are meant to help you substitute some your red meat for chicken or turkey. Examples include basted chicken breast, turkey burgers, chicken sausage and so on.
These products are commonly available in grocery stores and some restaurants. Although some of these products might not be healthy, there are actually a number of them that are made up of mostly lean meat and are therefore very low-fat and low-calorie.
Low-Fat Cheese And Low-Fat Plain
Low-fat cheese and low-fat plain yogurt are also a great option for the occasional cheese sandwich. You can also add a little juice into the mix to make it a slightly healthier alternative. Fish is another animal that is high in protein and therefore is very low in calories.
If you get your fish from the supermarket, you will be consuming some fat and calories, but these are hardly high. To make your fish taste good, simply brush it with olive oil and sprinkle it with a few sea salts and pepper flakes. Try this at least once a week to get an addictive taste.
Poultry is not a complete mystery. Just be sure to serve them in the original form – without any sauce or dressing. Fish may not be as healthy as poultry, but it is certainly less caloric and high in protein.
This means that you can include it in your meals with some regularity if you want to maintain your weight without going overboard. Fish is particularly good for vegetarians who need to ensure that they are getting their required daily allowance of protein, but it does not hurt to try it as well.
Risk Of Developing Heart Disease
Now that you know the reasons why red meat is bad for you, you can make up your own mind about whether or not you should eat it on a regular basis. This is a good idea to determine if you are at risk of developing heart disease or diabetes, as heart disease is typically associated with the consumption of red meat.
If you find that you are not putting red meat on your plate, you may want to consider eating chicken or turkey. Always ensure that you read the labels when you buy fish, since they often list the recommended daily allowance of protein. It is worth it to be aware of the risks that come with red meat
